Hello, my fellow weight-loss winners! I am so happy you are here! I am Millie, a nickname from my last name (Millington) given to me by my high school friends. I am 56 years old and live in Toronto, Canada with my husband of 30 years and our 27-year-old son.

I started my weight loss, healthy and fit journey on September 14, 2019, when I weighed in at a whopping 328.9 pounds! After losing 75 pounds in just under seven months, I decided to start this blog, Healthier Millie. This is the perfect time to share my current, past and future experiences with the battle of the bulge with you. You’ll hear about the good, the bad, the ugly and the funny.

Losing weight can be surprisingly simple on paper, just burn more calories than you eat and you will lose weight, But you and I know that it is super difficult. In fact, there is a multi-billion dollar industry that promises a lot but delivers short-term success. In the end, we only gain more weight and blame ourselves because we were lacking will power or motivation. Many of these doctors, authors, trainers, and other professionals have never been overweight or obese in their lives, yet they are experts on this very difficult subject.

I decided to become my own expert. I am going to do what is right for me. So what is my secret to weight loss? I eat real food made by mother nature and I experience no deprivation and no starvation. And yes, I exercise a lot and am now more active.

My first seven months included vacation, Christmas, and my birthday! I had to navigate real-life, holidays and occasions when all are expected to overeat and drink too much.

Perhaps I can inspire and motivate you to start or continue to be successful on your road to be a healthier, fitter, smaller you. I know exactly what you are going through and I understand. Who better to learn from than me who has lost a lot of weight by eating real food and being more active? If I can do it, so can you!
